Dawn AtanasioArtist Bio

A native of South Florida and of Puerto Rican heritage, Dawn has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Specializing in naturalistic realism, her acrylic paintings have been exhibited in several juried and curated shows. In 2010 she was awarded: first place at the 5th International Christian Art Competition, and a summer long studio scholarship by the Maitland Art Center. In 2008 she received the Eleanor J. Mathews Art Scholarship by Altrusa International, Inc. of Orlando-Winter Park for her work in still-life.

She also works with clay, and other three dimensional media. Many of her hand-made, Yixing influenced teapots are in privately owned collections. In 2006, she was awarded a commission for her design in a sculptural competition. Inspired by Florida’s native plant life, her sculpture is permanently installed at Rosen Shingle Creek resort in Orlando, FL.
